John and Michael Carney reached Everest Base Camp in support of the Nianjema School. The hike up to base camp took us 11 days and the hike down took 3 days. We did have a few days of rest periodically.

I can’t compare the challenge of hiking up to Mount Everest Base camp with Charlie Sloan’s effort to start the school and to keep it running but both were a physical and mental challenge.
