Finish for the Grand World Cruise 5/9/25

Yesterday was a long day for goodbyes.  The crew put on a show for us and I saw a lot of tears as we saw videos and pictures of people and places we have visited.  We were entertained by some of the beverage team in a moving song.  We had most of the crew come to the stage to say goodbye.

Nana jammed with her favorite band in the Ocean Bar and her fellow musicians.

We were given a show in the dining room by all of our stewards.

Today we arrived into Fort Lauderdale, where we started on January 4th.

It is both sad and happy for Nana and I.  Sad that we are leaving our home for the past 4 months and leaving many new friends behind.  Happy that we will get to sleep in our own bed tonight and we will be able to visit with our children and grandchildren.  With today’s technology we were able to FaceTime on the ship and talk with everyone  but we missed out watching them play and grow up.

We have now traveled  37,379 miles around the world.  We left January 4th and returned on May 9th, 2025 after being gone for 124 days on the Zuiderdam  We had 4 Overnights in Lima, Sydney, Cape Town, and Barcelona. We had  44 port stops along with with 58 Sea Days and 10 Cruising Days.  We visited 6 of the 7 continents.

Our top 5 places we visited were:

Papa Top 5

  1. Machu Picchu Site Visit
  2. Elementary School Dance on Komodo Island
  3. Visit Jewish Synagogue in Alexandria
  4. Mass at Sagada Familia in Barcelona
  5. Breakfast and lunch with the Nunes

Nana Top 5

  1. Machu Picchu Site Visi
  2. Native Ceremony in Tonga
  3. Visit Jewish Synagogue in Alexandria
  4. Mass at Sagada Familia in Barcelona
  5. Breakfast and lunch with the Nunes

As we left the ship, a lot of the crew were there to send us off, it was a grand voyage.  Thanks for ready my blogs.  I will be going back to my blogging about my trains for a while and maybe a trip or two to visit our grandchildren.
