The journey concluded in Fort Lauderdale after 124 days and 37,379 miles, with special moments and experiences shared. While sad to leave new friends, there’s joy in returning home. Nana showcased her watercolor paintings and performed at the guest talent show during the cruise. Following this, the family explored San Juan, appreciating its history, vibrant architecture, and warm atmosphere. They enjoyed local culture, tried a GPS-guided app, and savored piña coladas before preparing to disembark. Two more blogs are planned.

Alicante, rich in history spanning over 7,000 years, transitioned from prehistoric settlements to a vibrant Mediterranean port under various civilizations. Today’s excursion revealed the charming Old Town, Baroque Cathedral, and storied Castle of Santa Barbara. Experiencing local culture, including Las Hogueras de San Juan, enriched our visit before heading to Lisbon.
Today, we arrived on Sardinia, Italy, known for its beaches and culture. We visited the Mancini Estate for wine tasting, enjoying three signature wines in a scenic vineyard. Nana negotiated a wine deal, purchasing 16 bottles. Tonight features a formal dinner before heading to Barcelona for a special dinner at a castle.
Today, a special Easter sunrise service was held on a cruise ship, featuring a Pastor, Rabbi, and Priest. Nana participated in the choir, which prepared for the event. The service began at 6:00 am, despite chilly winds, and included a blessing, a sermon, and choir performances, followed by Mass at 8 am.
Today, we docked in Alexandria, Egypt, while 900 passengers visited Cairo’s pyramids. We explored Alexandria, visiting Fort Qait Bay, the Roman Amphitheatre, and the Library of Alexandria. We also toured the Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue, honoring a friend’s family history. The day included a memorable horse carriage ride and a heartfelt prayer.
Cartagena, Spain, founded in 227 BC, has a rich history as a key naval and military base. Originally established by Hasdrubal the Fair, it later became a Roman colony. Today, it features ancient ruins, including a Roman amphitheater. Our visit included a trolley train tour and a local parade, ending with a prayer in the main church.
Gibraltar has a rich history, featuring Neanderthal fossils and influences from the Phoenicians to the Moors. It became a British Overseas Territory in 1713 after the War of the Spanish Succession. Today, it has a stable economy and a population of 30,000. Challenges in family dynamics and exploration during a visit are also highlighted in their experiences.
