Transatlantic Cruise – Tuesday, April 23 (Sea Day)

Somewhere in the English Channel

Nana thinks I’m confused about which day we are on a cruise, it all depends on how you count if you count the first day we board as the first day or the first full day so I will just put the date of the day I’m writing to make it a little clearer.

Another great sea day  it is always interesting when we take a walk around the deck about what we see. two days ago the back of the deck was blocked and when we asked the person there, they said they were changing out the mooring lines for docking the ship. These were massive lines.  Today when we walked around the deck, we saw them banding up the old ones. They all look fine to me, but I guess you don’t want this ship to break the lines when at the dock.

Another interesting find during our walk yesterday was the animal grass spot.  Apparently this is for people that bring a dog on the ship.  During our first two weeks, we saw someone with a dog and we did wonder where they did their thing but didn’t think too much about it.  Now we see this down outside on deck 3, we wonder where it was during the first two weeks.  Much too cold for the dog to use on deck 3 so the only thing we thought was they put this on a balcony in the dog’s room.

About 11 AM this morning the captain made an announcement and said that there was an medical emergency and they were having a helicopter pick up to take the person back to a medical facility. So all outdoor places were closed and they asked us not to be on our deck in our rooms The pickup went smooth, but we never found out how the person was doing, nor was anything visible on how they actually picked up the person from the ship.  The helicopter was at the bow of the ship for the pickup.

During the first leg of our two week journey, I helped out a friend Bob with his computer and in thinking about it, I thought it’d be so much easier just to be able to talk to write these blogs. I recommended to him that he checked this out as we didn’t have time to pursue this and he left in Rotterdam, so I am experimenting with this for the first time. I am talking and the computer is writing the blog, love these Macs !

I started to work on my magic tricks today that I got on our previous cruise. There was a magician and he had a seminar on how to do magic tricks and he was selling a kit. I bought the kit and I am practicing my magic. My goal is to give my grandchildren  a magic show when I get back. Right now I’m just gonna work with Nana to see if I can wow her with my magician skills.

I talked yesterday that the feeling was a lot different on the ship and it was again the same way today. It is interesting that this group loves the dining room for breakfast. There are long lines waiting to get into the dining room for breakfast. The bars were packed this afternoon and it is crazy that the elevators are so busy , these people must be going all over the place because many times I’ve had to wait for two or three cycles of an elevator to get where we’re going. I now have a five floor minimum. If it is less than five floors, I walk it if it’s more than five or more floors than I take the elevator.

Nana started to swim in the pool this morning. The ship has been calmer so it has been a little easier. She said there was a lot of people in the pool so she had to swim around them. She does it first thing in the morning that’s all for now back again tomorrow.  She loves her swimming.  Each lap she prays for one of our grandchildren.

That’s all for now, back again tomorrow.
