Today was our adventure day. We were going Kayaking in the bay and then I was to take a submarine dive this afternoon. We woke up to a windy day which only promised to gert higher winds. Since the afternoon was predicted to have 20 mph winds, my submarine dive got cancelled. Even though the submarine is below the waters, you have to get from the zodiac to the submarine and it is tough to do in choppy waters.

So Kayaking it was. We were the first group to go out. We boarded a zodiac from our ship that was anchored. Since we were the first group, we towed behind us 6 kayaks. The waves were pretty rough and it took us a while to get to our place where we were going to kayak. Along the way 4 of the 7 kayaks, turned over due to the waves and we had to stop, flip them over and empty them out. Our destination was a wind protected cove along the shore.
Our training for getting in and out of the kayaks was good and all of us made it into the kayaks. We had a wonderful time exploring some coves and kayaking around in pristine waters. The temperature was cool but nice.

We then loaded back up, left the kayaks at a buoy and went back to the ship. Since we didn’t have kayaks in tow, we went faster and got pretty wet from the spray of the waves.
Being out on the zodiac reminded me of some of our zodiac excursions that I took in 1998 in Antartica with my Dad, brother and sister. Here are some flashbook pictures of those excursions.

As we arrive to the ship, I see my submarine wanting to get out but not allowed by the wind.

After boarding the ship, we haded to the spa where we soaked in the hot tub, enjoyed the steam room and relaxed.
Tomorrow is Georgian Bay in Canada, with a zodiac tour.
