Star Trek Cruise IX – Day 1

We boarded our ship yesterday after a great visit with my Brother in-laws, Andy and Barry.

My theme for the Star Trek blogs will be “Why is Star Trek so cult like ?”  Today’s topic will be ……It’s Been Passed Down for 60 Years.  Star Trek isn’t a one generation’s show.

It’s: • Grandparents → Parents → Kids → Grandkids

Our family shares episodes, movies, conventions and cruises with family. It has become a heritage entertainment. Like a family tradition.

So here we are with two of our children, sharing a family heritage!  We entered the ship to see it completely transformed into Star Trek History. Every bar was themed, Quarks Bar, Scotty’s bar, the Cube and many more. The elevator turned into turbo lift, a Deep Space 9 promenade, and much more.

The sail away party was a big event in the pool area. Everyone showed up and all of the actors that came on the cruise were introduced to us all.

We all dressed up for the festivities the 1st night.

They had a game night on stage with Dax, Kira from DS9, Malcom and Travis from Star Trek Enterprise and Saru from Discovery. It was very different seeing the actors not acting in Star Trek and bringing out different personalities.

Last stop of the night was Scottie’s Bar.  For a nightcap and off to bed.

This is such a different type of cruise. It is not about the ship, ports, or excursions. It is about the experience and meeting and watching people. It is also about reliving the TV shows and Movies and getting know more about the actors.

Total Star Trek Show Trivia

TV Shows ~700 hrs

Movies ~27 hrs

TOTAL ~727 hours

If you watched everything: 2 hours per night → ~1 year or 1 episode per night → nearly 2 years

More to come tomorrow………………
