Our first stop on our cruise is Georgetown in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands is a British Overseas Territory, meaning it is under the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the United Kingdom (UK) but governs itself in most matters. We had to use tenders to go ashore but here they used bigger local boats which made it faster. The locals were very glad to see us as this is not a usual stop for a lot of the cruise ships. Cuba is between the Cayman Islands and the US and quite far from a lot of the other Caribean Islands.

Georgetown, the capital of the Cayman Islands, is a vibrant and picturesque town located on Grand Cayman, the largest of the three islands. It’s known for its stunning turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and as a hub for finance and tourism. Our first stop ihere s the Turtle Centre, where we encountered magnificent green sea turtles weighing up to 600 pounds. We were able to touch the baby turtles and watch them up close. This center hatches baby turtles and helps them survive all over the islands.

Next stop was a visit to the Rum Cake Center for a taste of Grand Cayman’s renowned specialty…. Rum.
Last stop was straight to Hell –a village named for its unique natural limestone formations. Luckily they let me out but I still haven’t found Nana yet !

We were pleased to find out that they do have a classical trio on board for the whole cruise. We sampled their show tonight and loved it. After that we took in an excellent vocalist for the evening show.
A long day but we had a great time!
Tomorrow is a sea day and then Costa Rica !
