Italy 2025 – Wrapup

Lots of family time in italy.  The best thing for me was watching all the cousins play, talk, and even fight.  You don’t get to see your whole family together much, especially the size of our family.

Here are some final stats for the trip: 27 churches including 17 Jubilee churches visited, at least 12 major sites, 14 gelatos, 12 family selfies, over 175,000 steps and 13km on a bike.  We traversed Italy from the North to the South.  6 trains during the main part of the trip.  A water taxi, a water bus, multiple metro rides, multiple bus rides, multiple uber rides.

My favorite was Mass at St. Peters with the entire family.  We had to get up early, endure the heat, get to St. Peters and wait about an hour before Mass. it was so nice to have the family pray together.

Also notable was biking on the Appian Way, learning about the coliseum from a children’s perspective, learning more about the history or Rome.

The rest of the family loved the Appian Way Bike Tour, Venice, the Train rides, and Assisi especially Confessions in Assisi as well the castle in Assisi.

On our last night all together we had a special dinner at a special restaraunt. We had a special room in the basement of the restaurant.

What a fantastic trip! Congratulations of the fabulous family.

Lainey and I spent a week in Rome to “scope it out”, followed up with 3 days with our kids. I agree, my favorite was Mass at St. Peter’s with the entire family. The next favorite was the front time Lainey and I visited St Peter’s. We just checked into our hotel (literally across from the Vatican/St Perers Square). We were just touring, when some young priest started Mass in one of the many side alters, so naturally we stopped and attended. I was so elated as we left, I told Lainey how wonderful it was to receive communion in St Peter’s! Little did I know there’s a Mass going on at all times there. Still a great feeling with the family.

Glad you and Suzanna had a great time with the family. Thanks for sharing. What a wonderful trip.
